The story
Born in Cape Verde and raised in Antwerp, Belgium, Gudu Lopes is a composer and producer based in Ghent. His journey began in 1997 with the hip-hop group Rapperz van de Ronde Tafel, where he first explored lyricism and beat-making — building tracks from samples lifted out of movie soundtracks.
Still largely self-taught, Gudu is driven by a sound of his own: orchestral instruments woven through hip-hop rhythm. His Four Doors of the Mind series threads deeply human experiences — love, loss, longing — through a lifelong pull toward fantasy, sci-fi and anime. Alongside it, under the name G-Tone / Anubis, he writes and performs Dutch and Flemish rap — always as the composer behind the music.
